What Deep Roots members get
Every deck you pass as a free learner earns real seeds — reach 5,000 seeds (any 50 decks, as they rotate through) and we'll plant your own real tree. Your seeds also count toward the platform-wide Community Grove: every 1,000,000 seeds earned by everyone together plants a 25-tree grove, funded by Deep Roots members.
Deep Roots turns that same effort into a real tree with every deck: pass a deck, plant a tree, up to 5 real trees a month. Members also earn seeds faster and get a monthly streak freeze.

A real tree is planted
At 1,500 seeds per student, the class earns one real tree, planted through GoodAPI, a verified tree-planting service. Your class page shows how many trees were earned and planted.

Yes. Your teacher account has a private list of each student's decks and seeds. Students see the shared class total and their own seeds, never a classmate's.
There is no set limit. The goal is 1,500 seeds for each enrolled student, so a bigger class has a bigger shared goal.
No. The calculator is an estimate. It assumes every student passes the same number of decks each week. Real classes will vary.

Real trees, planted by a verified partner.
Rooted English does not plant trees itself. We plant them through GoodAPI, a tree-planting service that works with reforestation organizations.
Our planting partner: GoodAPI
GoodAPI lets businesses plant trees through its service. According to GoodAPI, each tree is GPS-tagged and recorded by its planting partners, and each planting comes with a certificate link. GoodAPI’s own site names Veritree and the Arbor Day Foundation among its partners.

When a real tree is planted
- Deep Roots members: a real tree with each deck you pass, up to 5 trees a month. Seeds still count after the monthly limit.
- Free learners: one real tree when you reach 5,000 seeds, which is every free Beginner deck.
- Everyone together: every 1,000,000 seeds earned across the whole community plants a 25-tree Community Grove.
- Classrooms: a class earns one tree for every 1,500 seeds per student.
Seeds count the moment you pass a deck. Real trees are planted through GoodAPI, and we do not promise a delivery date for any single tree.

That depends on the projects GoodAPI’s partners are running at the time. According to GoodAPI, each planting record lists the project and its coordinates.
No. A seed is a point you earn for passing a deck (100 per deck). Seeds track your progress. Real trees are planted at the milestones above.
No. We are a customer of their service. Naming them is how we show you who does the planting.
